Public Statement regarding the 2003 Christmas in Sierra Leone Chartered Flight .

Sierra Visions, Inc. is a non-profit organization comprised of young professionals who are interested in the development of Sierra Leone. All members of the organization participate in activities on a volunteer basis. Sierra Visions, Inc. association with Kambi Travel was strictly an effort to promote and support our Tourism initiative.

Members of Sierra Visions, Inc. were not responsible for any contractual agreements developed between Kambi Travel and TransAtlantic Airlines. In an effort to promote tourism and economic development in Sierra Leone, Sierra Visions, Inc. agreed to help Kambi Travel advertise and sell tickets for a direct flight from US to Freetown. In return, minimal proceeds were donated by Kambi Travel to Sierra Visions, Inc. to support our “Power of 100 Scholarship” program for Sierra Leonean students.

All information posted on the Sierra Visions, Inc. website came directly from management at Kambi Travel. Sierra Visions, Inc. was under impression that a direct flight would be chartered by Kambi Travel to transport customers from the US to Freetown Sierra Leone. As a matter of fact, our members were also passengers of the chartered flight. We were all surprised at the sequence of events. A few of our members suffered from the inconvenience of traveling to New York and waiting for five days to finally board a flight to Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Unfortunately, we at Sierra Visions, Inc were not aware that it was possible for so many mishaps to occur based on the information that we initially received. We sincerely apologize to all of the customers that were inconvenienced during this fiasco. We have all learned a great lesson from the sequence of events. However we are not discouraged in 2004, we will continue to work toward socio-economic development in Sierra Leone.
